A Postmark alternative for people who want their own SES

Postmark is the deliverability-led choice in this category and they publish that they think so. What they do not offer is your own cloud account. This page is where we are least likely to be the right answer, and we would rather say so here than have you find out later.

Short answer

If inbox placement is your primary concern, Postmark has a longer track record than we do and we have no measured deliverability figure to put against it. Use them. Use SendFleet when the requirement is architectural rather than reputational: your recipients and message bodies must never reach a third party's servers, your sender reputation must be isolated from every other customer, and you want a flat price with no volume ceiling.

What actually differs

SendFleet Postmark
Sending infrastructure Yours (BYOC) or ours (Managed), per domain, on one endpoint. Postmark's, only.
Can you use your own cloud account? Yes, and nothing about your mail is stored by us. No such option is published.
Transactional and marketing separation We are transactional only. There is no marketing sending product to confuse with it. A structural feature: promotional and transactional never share IP infrastructure. source
Free tier 50 emails a month, permanent, no card. 100 a month, permanent, no card, and explicitly "it never expires or runs out." source
Cost at 10,000 emails a month $15 a month on Managed Growth. $15 a month on Postmark Basic, then $1.80 per 1,000 beyond the 10,000. source
Cost at 100,000 emails a month $59 a month on Managed Pro, flat. There is a published tier at $18 including 10,000, plus overage at $1.20 per 1,000. We could not read a flat price for 100,000 from their page.
Annual billing Monthly. "Not right now, but we'd like to!" source

Where we are not the right answer

  • **Postmark has a better deliverability reputation than we can claim.** We have no measured deliverability figure and we are not going to invent one. If inbox placement is your primary concern and you have the budget, Postmark is the safer bet and you should know that.
  • **Their free tier is twice ours**, 100 emails a month against 50.
  • **They publish an Amazon SES comparison page and a SendGrid one**, and they list &quot;AWS SES&quot; as a migration source (<a href="https://postmarkapp.com/compare/amazon-ses-alternative" rel="noopener">source</a>). They are marketing against the thing BYOC is built on. We think that is a fair thing for them to do and we still think BYOC is a real answer.
  • **No tier exists between 100 and 10,000 emails** (<a href="https://postmarkapp.com/pricing" rel="noopener">source</a>), which is a gap if you are sending 3,000 a month. Ours starts at 5,000.
